Excavations took place on the corner of Law Road and St Andrews Street, close to the late Victorian church of St Andrews Blackadder and the ruins of the medieval St Andrews Church in North Berwick. This area lies within the heart of the medieval town of North Berwick. The linear layout of the development area and adjoining plots probably reflects the Medieval town’s burgage plot system.
The site at Law Road contained two phases of graves. The first consisted of a substantial square cist and the second of at least one long-cist. The square cist contained at least three individuals, and two iron objects were recovered from the fill, a small annular or penannular brooch and a knife with a bone handle. A small assemblage of artefacts, particularly medieval and later ceramics and animal bone, was recovered from upper and surface deposits at Law Road.
