Andrew is Managing Director of CFA. He has over 12 years experience and has undertaken a range of projects for CFA from desk-based assessments, field inspections and landscape surveys, through field evaluations, to large-scale multi-season excavations. In recent years his project work has concentrated on the production of cultural heritage chapters for Environmental Statements for a range of proposed developments. These have included the 400kV Overhead Line and 400/275/25kV Substation developments at Elvanfoot and Moffat, and the Kilmarnock South – Meadowhead overhead power line proposals for SP Power Systems; the Sloy-Inveraray 132kV overhead line and Beauly-Denny strategic routing studies for Scottish and Southern Energy. He also has extensive experience in conducting STAG1 route option appraisals for transport infrastructure projects. He was a member of the team conducting archaeological studies along the Strathaven-Harker and Anglo-Scotland-Ireland Interconnectors in the early 1990s.
Andrew has in-depth knowledge of legislation and national and regional planning policy guidance pertaining to cultural heritage. He has attended Parliamentary committee meetings as an expert witness in relation to Edinburgh Tram Line 2. His commitment to the highest professional standards is demonstrated by his full membership of the Institute of Field Archaeologists (MIFA). He is a member of the Committee of the Scottish Group of the IFA and is also a Councillor of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He is supported by a high quality professional and technical team that has demonstrated academic and technical rigour.
