Ross has extensive experience of evaluations and excavations of prehistoric to early 20th-century date. Prior to joining CFA in 2003, he was an Assistant Project Officer at SUAT Ltd for two years. He has experience of conducting evaluations on linear routes, for example the Aberdeen to Lochside Natural Gas Pipeline in Aberdeenshire. He has also recently directed a set-piece excavation of three prehistoric ring-ditch houses at Olmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, prehistoric features at Newton Road, Carnoustie and at Hatton Mill, Friockheim, Angus, and late Medieval features in Leith, Edinburgh.

He has produced over 30 technical reports for clients.
