#TeamCFA
CFA prioritises supporting and developing our staff, helping them to grow their careers in line with their interests and skills. Here's what a few members of #TeamCFA have to say:
Archaeological Supervisor
Clare
“I have recently been promoted to Archaeological Supervisor, it's great that my hard work is recognised. I enjoy the variety of work that we undertake at CFA, and particularly like working with a great team!“
Field Archaeologist
Gemma
"I have a degree in Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology and a Masters in Archaeological Science specialising in Funerary Archaeology and Human Remains, and as soon as I left Uni I started work as a field archaeologist. I’ve been working for CFA for 2 years now - I love working outside so this is the ideal job for me and I’m constantly learning new things. My favourite part of fieldwork is definitely excavating burials and anything related to osteology, whether it’s human or animal."
Senior Project Officer
Mark
“I really enjoy overseeing archaeological projects and discovering the history and story of a place through recording its archaeological remains. In particular, I like starting projects in new places and encountering different challenges. I've been at CFA for 10+ years, in which time I have progressed from Site Assistant to Senior Project Officer, whilst working on some amazing projects along the way!”
Buildings Archaeologist
Jenni M
"I began working as a field archaeologist but have specialised in buildings archaeology in Scotland for over 20 years. Since joining CFA in February I have really enjoyed working as part of a large and diverse team. The great thing about buildings archaeology is that you always find something, and that buildings are always more interesting than they first appear. I enjoy the little details that tell the story of the people who lived and worked there, particularly reused materials and alterations, notes scribbled on walls, etc. I like all different types and dates of buildings, but I particularly love rural and vernacular buildings."
Post-Excavation Officer
Gina
“Every day brings something new and exciting - I could be processing Bronze Age pottery or photographing Post-Medieval glassware. CFA has really supported me in growing and diversifying my career, and I always look forward to seeing what’s next.”
Post-Excavation Supervisor & Zooarchaeologist
Josh T
"I have worked at CFA for nearly four years, starting as a Post-Excavation Archaeologist, during which time I was able to work with a high volume of finds from our HS2 sites. While at CFA, I have developed my skills in animal bone identification and am now the company’s zooarchaeologist, responsible for analysing our animal bone assemblages. I also work with our archives, making sure completed projects are deposited at relevant museums. I am a Romanist to my core and love interacting with so much material culture from Roman Britain!"
