Starting at £26,614 and £27,913, respectively


Contract:

Fixed-time to 31st December 2025 (37.5 hours per week) extensions possible

The Role: 


CFA are looking to appoint fixed-time Field Archaeologists and Assistant Archaeological Supervisors (with commensurate salary) to our Leeds office.

A good knowledge of British archaeology is desirable for both roles, and you should be motivated, positive, and an effective team-worker, maintaining good professional relationships with colleagues and clients alike. You will regularly be required to work away and must be able to carry out manual work in outdoor environments in all weather.

Assistant Supervisor Role


You will be able to demonstrate a range of relevant skills and experience as an assistant supervisor in the commercial environment with demonstrable success in helping to motivate and supervise small teams, assisting with the supervision of a range of archaeological evaluations and excavations, and supervising plant, as well as office-based reporting and research.

Successful criteria include:


  • Relevant degree level education or practical experience in UK (or equivalent overseas) desirable.

  • Flexible approach to deployment and willingness to travel and work away.

  • Membership of CIfA desirable.

  • A good positive attitude and effective team-worker / communicator.

  • Willingness to learn a range of office-based and fieldwork tasks, with ambition to progress into more senior roles.

  • Reliable and motivated with good organisational skills.

  • An appreciation of inclusivity, diversity, and dignity and respect in the workplace.

  • Full manual driving licence essential.

  • Microsoft Office skills.

  • (AS role) Experience of assisting in the supervision of archaeological projects and managing teams.

  • (AS role) Experience of archaeological supervision of machine excavation.

  • (AS role) Maintaining the quality of archaeological recording within your team
