Redevelopment and regeneration of former industrial areas may often impact on archaeological remains, which can range from extensive mining landscapes to smaller, though equally significant, industrial sites.

Industrial archaeology as a discipline has its own methodology and techniques to deal with sites and monuments that are under threat from development.

CFA has a wealth of experience in dealing with industrial sites and landscapes and has been involved with numerous investigative and managerial projects on behalf of our clients. Past projects have involved excavation of a 19th-century harbour, brickyards, engine houses and mills. Our team includes members who specialise in recording industrial buildings prior to take-down or conversion. We are able to provide specialist advice on all aspects of industrial archaeology and building conservation.
