Force to Fabric Highly Commended Award (August 2013)

CFA is pleased to announce that on 11 August 2013 we received a ‘highly commended’ award from the Association of Industrial Archaeologists (AIA) for our publication ‘Force to Fabric’. Dr Mike Cressey accepted the award from Professor Marylyn Palmer at Stanley Mills.

The award was given in recognition of the quality of the work carried out by CFA and Structural Perspectives on behalf of Historic Scotland who funded the publication.  The publication brings together the results of recording work carried out by the two companies spanning over ten years.  The social and economic history of Stanley Mills is also explored and structural comparisons made with other Scottish ‘fireproof’ textile mills.
